New Beginnings

I think this is a time of new beginnings for me.  I love what Isaiah 43:19 says,

“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”

I am choosing to believe that God is doing a new thing in my life.  He is making a way in the wilderness.  Streams in the wasteland.

I have been in the wilderness sweet friends.  I would love to say, I have experienced the wilderness and am now in luscious green pastures.  However, that would be misleading you.  I very much still know that the wilderness surrounds me.  Even though I know the wilderness surrounds, I also have a confident expectation (most of the time) that God is doing a new thing in me.

Despite my wilderness season, I have felt led to continue moving forward in the ministry that God is giving me.  There have been streams in the wastelands.  I will share some of those with you in future posts.  There are also some new things going on logistically speaking as well.

A New Website

I stand at a new place of focusing and working on building my readership and making new friends online.  With a literary agent and a search for a publisher, that is super duper essential for me to steadily work on that.

I feel God has put a new ministry at my feet–a ministry to those who struggle with dysfunctional eating habits.  I know that God uses our stories for His purposes, and my eating disorder is no different.  Little by little, God is opening my heart to share some of the past few years with you.  This is a new place for me.  Something I have kept so close to my heart is now being revealed bit by bit.

As I began to understand that God was widening my doors of opportunity, I began to try to figure out how in the world to merge my glimpses of faith and struggles alongside my eating disorder.  God showed me how to do just that!  I am excited to present to you my new website.

A New Mission Statement

You will notice a new mission statement…from struggles to faith empowering others to live life transformed.

A New Thing-karenkaysmith.com

I have encountered many of you who tell me what an inspiration my blog is to you.  I delight in the fact that my simple words God can use to make a profound impact in your lives.  When I hear these testimonies, it gives me the courage to continue sharing my faith and struggles and even my eating disorder with you.  I want you to know that I pray over each blog post and I ask that my words empower you to live life transformed.

This new thing called a book…

At the top of my new website is where you will find a place to sign up for my email list.  Would you please subscribe to my email list?  I promise not to bombard you with emails!  However, this new thing called a book that God is doing with my life right now needs your help.  I am becoming a bit more active in social media, but I want to keep a close connection with you.  An email list is one way I can choose to do that.  So when you sign up for my email list, yes, you will receive a copy of my blog posts in your inbox, but you will also receive periodic updates from me that are not available on my blog.  These updates will include updates about my book as well as updates about our family and how you can pray for us!  So please don’t miss out, on our updates and stay connected with us!

When one of my posts blesses you, would you kindly share that post via social media with others?  Help me share God’s message with others!   Help me empower others to live life transformed!

New Eating Disorder Page

I have added a new eating disorder page to my website.  I highly encourage you to make sure you read that page.  It contains very raw and real writing about my eating disorder and what it has done for me and to me.  An eating disorder is so much more than food!

A New Logo

If you know me, you know that I am partial to butterflies.  There is a saying that I love, and that is without change there would be no butterflies.  I could also sit and watch butterflies flit around for a long time.  They mesmerize me.  So no logo would be complete without a butterfly.

There’s something special about this butterfly that I want to share with you.  The National Eating Disorders Association has a symbol that they use for eating disorders.

After seeing this eating disorder symbol, I want you to take a close look at my butterfly.  Do you see anything hidden within the butterfly’s wing?

In case you missed it, the eating disorder symbol is hidden inside the top butterfly wing.  An eating disorder is an integral part of my story now, so it is only right that the symbol is included in my logo.

Without further ado, allow me to present to you, my new website!  Explore, look around, and sign up so we can stay more closely connected!
